Many guides can also point you toward what kind of in-person pro you actually need, so you don't overpay.
Every guide goes through a verification process before they appear on Guidzz: identity verification, a background check, and confirmation of their trade credentials — EPA certification for HVAC techs, journeyman or master licenses for plumbers and electricians, ASE certification for mechanics, and so on. Guides who can't verify their credentials don't get approved.
For most common repairs, no — basic household tools like screwdrivers, a wrench, or a multimeter cover the majority of jobs. Before your session, your guide will tell you exactly what to have on hand so you're not caught off guard. If a repair needs a specific part or tool, they'll tell you precisely what to buy and where to find it.
The goal of every session is to get you to a working fix or a clear understanding of your options. If a session doesn't resolve your issue and it's something that should have been solvable over video, our team will review it and make it right — typically with a session credit. You'll never be left stuck without recourse.
Sessions can be recorded for your reference and for quality and safety — so you can rewatch the steps later, and so we can resolve any disputes fairly. You'll always be told before a session is recorded, and recordings are kept private to you, your guide, and Guidzz.
Guidzz is built for repairs you can do yourself with guidance — but we'd never push you to DIY something genuinely unsafe or beyond a video session. If you need an in-person pro, your guide will tell you honestly, help you understand what the job actually involves, and make sure you know what a fair price looks like so you don't get overcharged when you do call someone out.
